Podio Celebrates First-Year Momentum

Online Work Platform Surpasses 1 Million Apps Installed in Workspaces Used by Companies and Teams Around the World

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 21, 2012) Podio, the online work platform where anyone can build productivity apps to get their work done, is celebrating one year since its public launch with the release of new activity numbers showing how more than 40,000 organizations across the world use Podio

Since launching in March 2011, Podio has seen rapid adoption of its flexible, customizable work platform, driven by users’ ability to create purpose-built applications—without needing any technical skills—for getting work done their way.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with Podio’s impact over the last year. Our momentum tells us that workers are embracing the opportunity to choose how they get their work done by building their own tools and structuring workflows in a highly individualized way,” said Tommy Ahlers, Podio CEO. “The days of command and control IT are over; social is here to stay and self-empowered workers are ushering in a critical cultural shift in how real work gets done.”

Podio users have now installed more than one million apps in Podio’s collaborative workspaces—where teams of various sizes work together in realtime using activity streams, tasks, comments, and shared files.

Podio’s work platform also offers a simple but powerful app builder. Using drag-and-drop functionality, Podio users can create unique apps for project management, lead management, business development, HR, events or anything else they are working on. More than 75,000 apps have been built or modified by Podio users, delivering as many unique ways of getting work done.

Voted Europe’s Best Business Startup at the 2011 Europas, Podio is now used in more than 170 different countries, in seven languages. Podio is a truly global phenomenon and is building the world’s first non-technical app-building platform for workers.

“We started Podio because we experienced, firsthand, how work tools were broken,” said Jon Froda, Podio co-founder. “Legacy tools were not built for the modern workplace, they were built to maintain rigid organizational hierarchies rather than to help us get work done easier or faster. What our users have shown us over the past year, is that change can happen if you give workers the power to drive it, and the tools to work the way they want to.”
